Let’s Make Some Avocado Fries!

If you follow me over on Instagram you may already know about my obsession with Avocados. I have been eating Avocado Toast ever day for Breakfast since I was 20 weeks pregnant and I truly never get tired of it. Fun fact about me though: I NEVER liked Avocados until I was pregnant. I hated the taste and the texture but for some reason it became one of my biggest pregnancy cravings, my little guy is 10.5 months old and I still feel like I am constantly just craving Avocados. The great thing about Avocados is that they are perfect for Baby Led Weaning. They are incredibly healthy, the perfect texture, and babies love them (at least mine does). I usually don’t do much to his Avocado if anything, I just slice it up and put it on his plate, sometimes on it’s own but usually with some kind of topping like Nutritional Yeast or Hemp Hearts. Since it’s one of his favorite foods and always has been, I really wanted to make a new version and then I remembered at a restaurant I was recently at they had Avocado Fries and they were delicious. Now the Avocado Fries at this restaurant were definitely fried but for Baby Led Weaning I wanted to make a simpler, baked version. These are so yummy, definitely something your entire family will enjoy.

Why Avocados?

Because they are DELICIOUS of course!! But seriously in addition to their yummy taste, Avocados are one of the best Baby Led Weaning foods and a lot of times they are one of the first foods a baby will eat. Avocados are also incredibly healthy, they are filled with Vitamin K, Folate, Vitamin C, Potassium, Vitamin B5, B6 and E. Did you know that Avocados actually contain more Potassium than Bananas? This is great news because Potassium is something so many people struggle to get enough of. Avocado is loaded with Heart-Healthy Monounsaturated Fatty Acids.

Ingredients:

  • One Avocado

  • One Egg

  • Two Tablespoons Milk of Choice *I prefer Almond

  • 1/2 Cup Flour

  • Two Cups Panko Bread Crumbs

  • One Teaspoon Garlic Powder

  • One Teaspoon Hemp Hearts

  • One Teaspoon Nutritional Yeast

How To Make Them:

Start by heating your oven to 365 degrees. Now get three bowls, in one put your Bread Crumbs, Garlic Powder, Nutritional Yeast & Hemp Hearts. Mix together. In your second bowl whisk your Egg with your two tablespoons of Milk. In your third bowl add your Flour. Now you can slice your Avocado into thin strips, dip your Avocado slices into the Flour, then the Egg mixture and lastly into the Breadcrumbs. Place these Avocado pieces onto a baking sheet with some non-stick spray. Place into oven at 365 degrees for 10 minutes or until they are golden brown. Hope your little one likes them!
