Let’s Make Some Chia Seed Pudding!

Updated: Jun 10, 2021

I think that this may be one of my absolute favorite Baby Led Weaning foods for so many reasons! First of all, my little guy absolutely loves it, he gets a big smile on his face whenever he sees it come out of the fridge, he can’t get enough. It is not only incredibly healthy and tasty, but it is also super easy to make and requires very minimal prep which is always a win as us moms never have too much free time on our hands. The other thing that I love about this recipe is that it is great for the entire family. When I make Chia Seed Pudding for my son, I make a double batch and save some for myself, I add some extra ingredients to mine such as fresh fruit slices, coconut yogurt, granola, almond butter etc. You can’t go wrong with a quick and nutritious meal for the entire family.

Why Chia Seeds?

There is a long list of reasons why I like to incorporate Chia Seeds into Baby Led Weaning wherever I can. To start, it is great for teeth and bone growth. Did you know that chia seeds contain higher amounts of calcium than a lot of the popular dairy products? If your little one has a problem with dairy, this is a great alternative way to get them lots of calcium. In addition to being high in calcium, the oil inside chia seeds contains omega 3 acids which are extremely beneficial for heart health. The other big health benefit to Chia Seeds is that they are rich in protein which of course is very important for our growing babies.

Ingredients:

  • 3 Tablespoons of Chia Seeds

  • 2/3 Cup Coconut or Almond Milk

  • 1 Banana Smashed (or a 1/3 Cup of any Smashed Fruit)

  • Splash of Vanilla Extract

  • Cinnamon

  • Nutmeg

How to Make Them:

Start by smashing your fruit and adding that into a bowl, add in your three tablespoons of Chia Seeds, the 2/3 cup Coconut Milk, a splash of Vanilla Extract, and a sprinkle your Cinnamon and Nutmeg.

Mix everything together well so that all the Chia Seeds are covered in the Coconut Milk.

Cover and put into your fridge for an hour or two and then it is ready to serve.

Hope your little one likes it!
