Let’s Make Some Chicken Nuggets!
It was only a matter of time before I made a recipe for the staple kid’s meal: Chicken Nuggets. If you’ve seen any of my recipes before you know that I love to sneak in veggies into recipes whenever possible, but for this recipe I wanted to keep it super simple and make my version of a classic chicken nugget. The cool thing about this recipe is that I have actually made it vegetarian and non-vegetarian, these chicken nuggets taste delicious either way. The way that you can make them vegetarian is by using a plant-based ground chicken option as opposed to a regular ground chicken. They cook the same and taste very similar (my husband has tried both versions and said they taste the same). These Chicken Nuggets are very moist on the inside but I would recommend them for babies with multiple teeth who are more further along in their eating.
Why Chicken?
I have been wanting to work on a recipe including Chicken for awhile primarily because it is a quick and easy form of high-quality Protein. In addition to Protein, Chicken is an excellent source of amino acids which are bodies use to build muscle tissue. Chicken also contains Vitamin B12, Zinc, and Iron.
Ingredients:
One Pound Ground Chicken (vegan or regular)
Two Eggs
One Teaspoon Garlic Powder
One Teaspoon Paprika
1/4 Cup Applesauce
One Cup Breadcrumbs
How To Make Them:
Start by preheating your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
Combine the ground chicken, two eggs, applesauce, garlic powder and paprika in a large bowl. Form this mixture into small patties and let them sit in the fridge for about an hour. After an hour give the Nuggets a light coat in breadcrumbs then get them onto an oiled baking sheet. You could also top them with a little bit of Avocado or Olive Oil. These will cook for about 18-20 minutes flipping them halfway through and they are all done! Hope your little one likes them!
